Ever since this Rock Band game came out, other companies have been trying to compete. Guitar Hero IV will add non-guitar elements, and now Konami's ready to jump in the game with Rock Revolution. The company that initially put music gaming on the radar through games like Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania is hoping to leverage the "Revolution" name to attract a hardcore audience.

Silent Hill Homecoming is the series' first entry into the new generation. From the new footage released from Konami's Gamers Day, we say it looks remarkably similar to previous incarnations. It's going to be gruesome, obviously -- too bad we couldn't hear the haunting score Silent Hill is so well known for in this video.

Another week, another update. While Europeans got their hands on Dark Mist and a new PS1 game today, American PS3 owners have a little less to celebrate about. Rocketmen: It Came From Uranus rears its ugly head and demands a preposterous $5 for the "pleasure." We'll pass, thanks.

The video below was created and uploaded to YouTube from within a PS3 game. This could have some great potential. Imagine a cool moment in a game that you wish you could have recorded and shared with your friends. Now you can if the game supports it.

Who needs three dimensions? That's fifty percent more than you really need! Metal Gear Solid requires you to play stealthily, and the game's training mode will do exactly that. You'll have to navigate a 2D world as Old Snake, sneaking under and behind guards. Use your camo at 100% to disappear a la the Tanooki suit from Mario 3. This clever presentation is a wonderful contrast to the incredible 3D graphics of Guns of the Patriots, no?

Metal Gear Mania continues today. Series creator and director Hideo Kojima presented the first ten minutes of Metal Gear Solid 4 to the press today, and the folks at 1UP were able to capture it off-screen. This all Japanese-footage includes the intro movie, but goes directly into gameplay. More than the visuals, the audio is what haunts us the most. The score pulls on the heartstrings, while the sounds of war sound absolutely brutal ... as they should.

It has no audio, but you can surely add your own soundtrack in your mind as you watch this LittleBigPlanet video. It's also available in high-definition off of IGN's website, so if you're having trouble seeing things, go ahead and try that version. We're working on a dinosaur of a laptop, so the framerate's really choppy on the HD version for us.

Ted Price, main man behind Insomniac Games, talked with IGN for a bit about Resistance 2. While you won't hear much about the single-player adventure and all the mysterious features it supposedly has in store for us, he does speak about the 60-player online squad matches, the time setting for the game, details on the co-op mode, and some other stuff. Part of it is covered in the above interview, and we'll try to summarize the rest of interest from what was written down at IGN.

There’s a ton of stuff on PSN recently that I haven’t really gotten around to. I’d like to try the full version of Echochrome for one.

Heresy! Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will rebalance a few of the characters from the original game, and many fans have been angry that such a classic is being altered. In an interview with GameCyte, Backbone Entertainment's David Sirlin explains why they're rebalancing the game, and how he hopes not to disappoint the hardcore by doing so. He doesn't want to change how the game plays.

Retrospectives are both a great and horrible thing. This Metal Gear retrospective by GameTrailers is an excellent way to relive the long-revered franchise. To many, it may come as strange to think that Kojima was ever a troubled developer -- but that's exactly what happened. The original Metal Gear was a last-ditched attempt at saving Kojima's career. The idea of a "sneaking mission" game, where the player isn't encouraged to kill everything on sight was a daring move ... that ultimately paid off. The early origins of Snake's adventures are fascinating to see, as they help ground us for Snake's last adventure -- Metal Gear Solid 4.

When we first saw Elefunk, we didn't know what exactly to make of it. However, seeing it in action in this new trailer has us pretty excited for this elephant-themed puzzle game. In it, you must build bridges in order to help move elephants from one place to another. It's like all the fun of high school physics, without any of the bad acne and body odor! With elephants!

So ... you want more Rocketmen media? Capcom's not giving up on the poorly-reviewed PSN downloadable. It's offering an expansion next week ... and unfortunately, you'll have to pay for it. For some bizarre reason, some of you really enjoyed Rocketmen. We enjoyed watching this trailer of the It Came From Uranus expansion more than actually playing the game. Maybe because this video actually had more production values (like music) than the original game.

Finally! Something the Officers of Opinion can have pride in taking votes for has come to pass. Perhaps some of you are not aware of the most recent GameTrailers debacle, but it goes something like this: a new racing game called GRID got its chance at a video comparison on their site and from the video posted, the 360 was implied to have more dynamic and compelling footage. The PS3 version seemed like a prettied-up last-gen borefest. However! GameTrailers used PS3 footage for both sides of the comparison. Watch the above video, ripped from their site with some added narrative, to draw your own conclusions then tell us what you think.
