Cory Barlog's tenure with Sony may have ended, but his plans for the future have not. In fact, the game director of the God of War games is intent on making movies and even more games.Barlog expressed in a recent interview his interest in developing a game specifically for the Nintendo Wii. He also added that film work was something that he had always wanted to do.However, certain negative projects had made him question whether film making was actually his cup of tea. Now that he has more time and freedom on his hands, he mentioned that he would like to explore that option once more. While he admitted that he was "less than impressed" with his Nintendo Wii, Barlog nonetheless acknowledged the potential of the console. Another factor that has influenced his interest in developing a game for the Wii is cost. According to Barlog:
I would love to make a game on this system. I think there is a lot to be done with it. Plus...it’s like a BILLION times cheaper to make a Wii game versus a 360 or PS3 game...which is good.
Making a 40 or 50 million dollar game is cool, I love making big games don’t get me wrong, but you have soooo many more masters with their hands in the creative pot when that kind of money is getting thrown around.
Hopefully when the game industry becomes more comfortable with those budget numbers things will get better.
Cory Barlog also expressed his opinion of such games as Ninja Gaiden and Too Human, as well as what he would've done with God of War 2 if he could go back and change things. If you'd like more information, simply follow the source link below back to his blog.
